Today, my students painted a rain barrel for The City of Charleston, WV Stormwater Project. These rain barrels will tour all over Charleston to promote rainwater harvesting workshops throughout the area. My students were excited to learn about rainwater harvesting, themselves, and some are already doing it at home! Because of the chemical spill in January, they were well aware of the importance of keeping our water clean and having alternative water sources as a backup to the city system.
They also enjoyed learning about Claude Monet and the Impressionists! And check out the nice perspective created by making the water lilies big at the bottom and smaller as they go up! Sweet!
